The problem is not the number of sensors but the understanding of what's going on. Vision systems have a hard time with rare events avoiding false positives where they panic unnecessarily because the sensors catch sight of a street sign or something so they tend to ignore such circumstances. But sometimes there is really a pedestrian or a parked car.

The underlying problem is AI's and computer vision systems don't have any human understanding so they are easily fooled by unusual situations and especially by adversarial actions.
